Flash Fashion/The Challenge - the Kits Have Landed!

Get your sewing machines oiled and your scissors handy -- it's almost time for Flash Fashion/The Challenge! Fifty of you (that's how many kits there are) will have 24 hours to deconstruct, remake and transform a bundle of clothing parts and miscellaneous fabric into an original garment creation. Call it Project ReRun-way, if you like. Whether you are an experienced sewer or a complete innocent, we want to see your stuff!

Here's how it works: On Saturday, September 26, pick up a free starter kit at one of these locations:

Goods for the Planet
Dexter Avenue and Mercer Street
(same place as the pockets class) 11am-3pm

Sustainable Ballard Festival
22nd Avenue N.W. and N.W. 56th Street, noon-3pm

Add other scraps and remnants from your own stash and/or see what extra supplies are available at the kit locations. Then head on home and sew - you have 24 hours to make a masterpiece. Work alone or team up with a friend, and bring your finished garment to the Ballard Library at 3pm on Sunday, September 27.

We hope you will want to show your creation in the Flash Fashion Show at the Sustainable Ballard Festival on Sunday at 4p.m.
